STRIP – WALL LIGHT

Sale price£620.00

Made in reference to the ‘Slat Dance’ by the Bauhaus artist and choreographer, Oskar Schlemmer, the Strip wall light reimagines the dancer’s costume: a series of long sticks that were attached to the body, which extended well beyond its limits to create an exaggerated series of lines in space that followed the direction of the dancer’s movements.

“As soon as I saw [this dance], I thought – I want to do that in lighting” A. Sirokina

A slim glass cylinder draws a line through the air, held at its middle by a cuff made in brushed brass and black marble - a touch of Art Deco elegance. The vertical element projects forwards, sitting proud from the wall as if it were floating. Attached by a thin support, the whisper-thin diffuser is contrasted with a more substantial circular back plate in brushed brass, which forms an important part of the overall composition.
